Shashank, Benton, and Ryan woke up a bit earlier this morning to take a nice 5 mile run. The weather was again perfect (the weather was pretty good for most of this trip after Vienna). By the time they got back and showered, the rest of the group was mostly up, and it was time to head out.

Kira, Clayton, and Elizabeth went to get brunch (which ended up taking a long time). (I don’t really have many details on the rest of their day, but from what I gathered it was mainly just exploring and walking around Berlin).

Benton, Joe, Shashank, and Ryan all went into town, where Benton bought Levi jeans (a bit of a 🤡 move as they are much more expensive in Europe, though he desperately needed another pair of pants on the trip). They then went to Meya Meya - ägyptisches Essen for lunch, before Joe and Ryan split off to meet Elizabeth at the Reichstag Building (as they had scheduled a visit to the dome of the building the previous day).

Shashank and Benton then walked around the Kollwitzkiez area with Allan (who had gotten a slow start to the day), popping into random little shops and parks. They then went to see Brandenburg Gate and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, before finally grabbing some small beers along the water at Hackescher Markt.

Benton then went back to work(because he has a boatsphobia), and the rest met up to go on Joes boat adventure. Unfortunately, the snacks and drinks worker never showed and the tour was in german (with half working translation sticks) so it was mainly a romp around the city to observe the big sites with some decent tour-guiding by Omar.

The group then split up to get some supplies, Ryan wanted protein, Kira and Clayton wanted boba, Elizabeth got water for the group and then trickled back to the airbnb (as they planned to go out clubbing late at night). Benton grabbed a quick dinner from Pizza Toscana Berlin, then eventually it was time to go out.

Benton and Shashank opted not to go clubbing; instead, they decided to go bar hopping. In order, we went to:

  • Tonart (lots of 70s-90s rock; we were youngest by quite a bit; funny and divey)

  • HOME Bar (super cozy interior, Benton had a nice dry cider)

  • Bloona (a cocktail bar, where we were served much stronger drinks than expected)

Before walking the 40ish minutes back to the Airbnb.

In the meantime, the others went clubbing at Tresor Berlin I Club & label. Allan was tarps off, and decided to stay out later with Omar, but the rest came back to the Airbnb by around 2:30am (just after Benton and Shashank got back). Allan and Omar came back a few hours later, and he apparently gave some good soundbites at the club (due to his less than sober state).
