Despite being a bit sick, Benton decided to get up and go for a run with Shashank in the morning (see map in orange for route). The run circumvented the inner part of Copenhagen (~6.3 miles), and we managed to run through Kastellet (a fort that now functions as a public park). As we ran by some armed guards, we heard a loud metal click, and we were joking that if we got shot, it would end up giving the US an excuse to invade Greenland (we were musing how that would be a strange legacy to leave).
By the time Shashank and Benton got back from the run, the rest of the group was up and ready to go. Joe went to drop off his laundry at a laundromat (it ended up costing way more than he expected), and the we all made our way to Juno the bakery (recommended by the chef at Joe’s dinner for their cardamom buns).
Shashank and Benton were later to arrive at the bakery than the others since they had to shower, so extra pastries were ordered to go. However, the line wasn’t very long by the time Benton and Shashank arrived, so the rest of the group ended up eating the extra pastries as well, and Benton/Shashank just ordered their own. The cardamom buns were the highlight.
Benton and Shashank then roamed towards Trianglen St. (Metro), Joe worked at a cafe, and the rest of the group roamed towards Kastellet. Our walks were uneventful, and we all ended up at Restaurant Puk for lunch. This place had more smørrebrød, which was tasty, but ultimately this lunch experience wasn’t much different from the day prior.
After lunch, we went through the Danish Architecture Centre (one of Benton’s favorite museums from the previous time he was in Copenhagen). This museum got mixed reviews from the larger group, but Benton enjoyed how the exhibits had completely changed. Allan really enjoyed the 4 story slide to exit the museum (enough that he ended up doing it twice).
Benton, Ryan, and Joe then went to the hostel (Ryan to rest through his sickness, the others to work). Shashank, Allan, and Elizabeth went to a smoky bar, where they played poker and agreed that whoever had to buy in would get a round of drinks. They ended up drinking quite a bit, partly due to Elizabeth going all in and having to repeatedly buy another round.
We all then met up for pizza and beer at Pizzeria MaMeMi & Wine Bar. Allan, Shashank, and Elizabeth tried to act like they were sober and hadn’t had much to drink, but Allan kept dropping small statements that led the rest of the group to conclude otherwise.
From dinner, we went back and stopped at a cocktail bar (Duck and Cover - Cocktailbar) recommended by another friend. The drinks were nice (Allan’s was super strong), and Benton left a bit early to go finish up working for the day.
The others eventually came back and then we went to sleep. At this point in the trip, we were definitely pretty exhausted.
