Due to us being out late the night before, we slept in quite a bit, and ended up pretty much heading straight to our lunchtime food tour. The weather was pretty brutal, and we were all soaked by the time we arrived (as were the rest of the members of the food tour).
The tour itself was pretty fun, and some of the highlights were as follows:
We ate a bunch of food (I linked what I could remember, but we may have eaten more): codfish cake, caldo verde (soup), pastel de nata, some cherry liquor called ginja. All were pretty tasty.
We got to try port wine at multiple different places (a lot of it; definitely enough to feel the alcohol). Overall, Brad and Logan enjoyed the port, while Benton and Jack aren’t really fans. It was neat to try though (only Jack had tasted port wine before).
We were far and away the youngest members of the tour group, but there was a group of retired (or close to) Aussie women who were entertaining to chat with. They were amused by our answer to “what all have you been up to today?” which was “Pretty much wake up and try to get to this on time,” and were cracking quite a few jokes, plus some statements along the lines of “All that really matters is it gets you drunk.” Their trip sounded pretty crazy (a super long hike along what I think was this trail, which they were starting shortly after the food tour).
A couple where the husband graduated from Ohio State, and lived in Minneapolis for a while after school (which is exactly what Logan has done so far post school).
Once the tour was over, we went back to the Airbnb and tried to dry off as much as possible. Benton spent some time hair drying his shoes, and we also watched some TV.
The FC Porto stadium wasn’t hard for us to get to by transit, so we decided to hop over there and do the museum + stadium tour. The museum was huge (it took us 2 hours to get through), and it had a ton of information that was relatively well organized (a big plus for Benton as far as museums go). Walking around the stadium was also pretty neat, as we got to walk right next to the super pristine grass on the pitch and also visit the presidential box suite.
Dinner rolled around quickly enough, and we decided to go to Taberna Londrina Porto, Ceuta. We picked this restaurant since it was a recommendation from the Airbnb host for Francesinha, a rather heavy local dish that seems like something you would make in a dorm. Most of us got Francesinha, and we were quite full.
After dinner, we ended up at Cervejaria Gulden Draak Bierhuis Porto to watch some Champions League (the first leg of a semi-final; this game, which ended up being quite an entertaining 3-3 match). Once the game was over, we played 3 games of Euchre, which was entertaining as Jack could not seem to get decent cards the entire time. Jack went 0-3, while everyone else went 2-1. Once we were done at the bar, we went back and slept a bit earlier.
