Today, we got a bit of a slow start (as we were up pretty late the night before). Logan and Benton went to get some pastries from Confeitaria Royal, and then we all drove to WOW Porto - The Cultural District (a super touristy area that had some stuff to do related to wine). Logan and Brad went to tour Taylor’s Port, while Jack and Benton did a wine museum. Both experiences were neat (Jack and Benton learned that Portugal has a ton of variation as far as the wine that they can produce), while Logan and Brad enjoyed their tour of the winery + drinking port at the end of the tour.
From there, we got in the car and drove to Coimbra, stopping along the way for gas and a quick grab and go lunch. When we arrived in Coimbra, we discovered that the street by our Airbnb slowly got narrower and narrower until the car would no longer fit. Because of this, we ended up unloading all of the luggage, while Jack backed the car up carefully all the way back down the road (fortunately there was no other traffic behind us).
Jack parked the car, the rest of us settled into the Airbnb, and then eventually we took a short lap around Coimbra, going from near the Airbnb (R. do Corpo de Deus 38), towards the water and then up to University of Coimbra, before completing our loop and heading back (the weather was rainy and a bit cold, so we weren’t super motivated to stay out). We stopped for dinner at Restaurante Sete where all of our portions were huge (Benton got a huge fillet of cod, while both Jack and Logan got huge steaks).
Finally, we got some gelato at DOPPO Gelataria before heading back to the Airbnb and watching a movie, sleeping a bit early. Today was probably the first day where it felt like we were losing steam, so it was good to have a bit of a rest day.
