Travel to Prague

Benton
Allan
Ryan
Elizabeth

This morning, we got up, finished packing up, and walked to take a bus to the train station. Ryan’s massive suitcase was pretty funny on the bus, but overall the trip was uneventful. Benton worked most of the 4 hour train ride to Prague, and the others mostly slept, read, or watched some downloaded TV shows.

(Roger left here, so it was only Benton, Elizabeth, Allan, and Ryan on the train)

Upon arrival at Prague Main Station, we walked to drop off our luggage at the Airbnb (located right next to Family Mart). When we were inside the Airbnb, we remarked how massive all of the rooms were (and we were excited to have the space for the next couple of days).

Our Airbnb host recommended a lunch place nearby, which we went to (called Restaurace Hybernská). Lunch was really good, with huge tasty portions (and super cheap). Both Ryan and Elizabeth tried to order the half chicken, Ryan for the protein and Elizabeth because none of the other dishes were chicken. However, they were told that there was only one half chicken left, so Ryan ordered the “beef chuck” instead. The waitress repeated back “beef cheek,” which was also what the menu said 🤡. Ryan also decided that this was a good spot to try mulled wine (a pairing that surprised our waitress). Also, when we went to leave, we watched a small parade of half chicken dishes come out, which did not amuse Ryan.

After lunch, we walked through the touristy/old town area, stopping to watch Prague Astronomical Clock ring, before continuing onwards and across Charles Bridge. We then walked back around the river to a different bridge before hopping on a tram and arriving back at the Airbnb (for our official check in).

The Airbnb itself, despite being massive, seemed to have a lot of furniture inside of it that was in pretty bad shape. One of the bathrooms had 2 showers in it (in full view of each other), which was a bit funny, but overall it was quite comfortable. Ryan coined it as “grunge luxury,” which described the overall vibe of the place pretty well. The water also tasted really strange, so we opted to buy bottled water for this entire leg of the trip.

Benton worked for a while, while the others explored Prague Castle, and eventually we all met up at Restaurant Meat Beer (another tourist trap, though this one actually not that bad). Allan ordered duck, and was the only one who didn’t like his food (classic), but overall the dinner was fun. From dinner, we came back to the Airbnb to chill (Benton worked), and then we went to bed.
